#55WordChallenge : The Fence – Part 25

The next morning, Leighla woke me up. “It’s been a long time since you’ve visited Old Phoenix.”

We walked beside the lake a while, then headed inland, to an old, deserted city. That city had thousands of buildings. She led me to a street lined with identical houses, and pointed to one. “Taran lives there.”

Finally! I’ve written part 25 of the serial story I’m working on for Lisa McCourt Hollar‘s #55WordChallenge flash fiction challenge. I’ve been meaning to get back to this for the past couple months. I like the challenge of writing a serial in 55 word chunks, based off of random pictures. It’s fun. Please, go read all the other entries in the challenge this week. It’s flat amazing what gifted writers can say in just 55 words.

If you wish to read all the parts of the story, they are in order, from most recent to first, here.

#55WordChallenge : The Fence – Part 22

We withdrew from the hills, leaving the building behind, returning to Old Phoenix. “Who was that? Where did he take my mother?”

She smiled. “I’ll let him tell you.”

We stopped at a building filled with bookshelves. “He knows we’re here.”

I heard a voice behind us, “Welcome, Leighla.”

She hugged him, “Taran! How’s Mother?”
